Membership/Sponsorship in the Appalachian Mural Trail Group will provide marketing that is designed to
draw more visitors into your area to view your public cultural murals. The mural trail marketing plan
includes: placement of a location marker on our website's interactive mural map and a description of
your mural, your listing and mural images on a separate highly visual customized Search Engine Optimized
landing page on our Appalachian Mural Trail website.
Promotion of the Appalachian Mural Trail website
comes through the rack cards placed in state Welcome Centers, the Asheville Chamber of Commerce and
other visitor centers in major attractions throughout the Appalachian Mountains. As we add new members
rack cards are placed in their area. We are members of many tourism hosts that help us promote the
mural trail, including the Blue Ridge Parkway Association, Blue Ridge National Heritage Area,
Smoky Mountain Host, High Country Host, Blue Ridge Mountain Host and Explore Asheville with more to come as
memberships grow. Each new member is announced in a press release to local,
national, regional and international media,
drawing both visitors and locals to our website to use the mural map for their traveling journey
into Appalachian art and history! Social Media includes a facebook.com/appalachianmuraltrail page
and each landing page has a comments section.
The mural trail encourages participation in the trail
through offering a free mural trail tee shirt to visitors who take their 'selfie' in front of a
favorite mural. We also have a 'mural spotting' page for folks to make us aware of murals in their
neighborhoods for possible inclusion on the mural trail. Each new member receives a mural trail
plaque which is placed on or near the mural to signify the mural is an important mural and worthy
of inclusion on the mural trail. Our vision is to bring world attention to mural art that tells the
story of the people of our beautiful Appalachian Mountains.
Upon submitting this application, you are joining with other communities and organizations
throughout the Appalachian region to promote our rich heritage through the arts. A small renewal
annual membership fee($150) will be used to place your mural on the mural trail map with a customized
landing page and to include your mural in all our marketing activities. Upon completion, an invoice
will be sent to your listed e-mail and/or physical address.
